Linda Charles Swartz

"Teacher Forever"
Linda Swartz, 71, of Grantsville, Utah, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. She was born in Tooele, Utah on August 9, 1942 and lived most of her young life in Grantsville. She attended Utah State University and graduated with a BA in Education. She taught physical education in California for 20 years and counseled six years, with 22 of those years at Hiram W. Johnson High School where she taught dance, coached volleyball and counseled. She moved to Henderson, Nevada, in 1992 and was a counselor at Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center for 11 years. After being retired for a year, she returned to a part-time librarian job at the University of Southern Nevada. She met the love of her life, Jack Swartz, who was also a physical education teacher and coach, and they were married for 31 years. Their favorite past-time was going on cruises or traveling through their time-share exchanges. They coached swimming together and officiated volleyball together. Teaching and sports were a great part of their lives. She taught chair exercise, water aerobics and line dancing at the community clubhouse/pool and enjoyed swimming and/or walking every day. She was also a member of the Mountain View Red Hatters. Linda was very active in her Shadow Canyon Ward, and loved to work at the Las Vegas Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Leona Charles, her husband Jack Swartz, and her brother-in-law Wayne Edwards. She is survived by sisters Kathleen Edwards, Karen Hamm, DeAnna Linares (Danny), Mary Charles and her brother Dick Charles; her stepchildren Joe Swartz (Kathy), aPatrick Swartz (Melinda), Pete Swartz (Peggy), and Jonnie Lee Wright. The memorial service will be held at the Grantsville 7th ward, 415 W. Apple St., Grantsville, on Saturday, November 23 at 12:00 noon. Family visitation will be from 11:00011:45 a.m. Services are being provided by Didericksen Memorial.

Richard McComack Sr.

Richard McComack Sr formerly of Trenton, Texas, the last of a great tribe and a WWII Veteran, peacefully returned to Jesus on November 13, 2013 at the home of his daughter Shelley Durrant of Vernon, Utah. Born February 17, 1925 to William Thomas & Mary Jane (Molly) Spradlin McComack in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Didericksen Memorial in Grantsville, Utah. He was the youngest of 11 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, siblings, wife; Kay Fuller McComack, a daughter; Theresa Thiele and one great-grandson; Colton Billingsley. Richard is survived by wife, Laura Durrant McComack, Sherman, TX, three daughters; Helen Darline, husband Terry Williams of Blanco,Oklahoma, Mary Rochelle Durrant of Vernon, Utah, Laura Ellen McComack and partner Chad Cox of Bonham, Texas and two sons; Richard Jr. and wife Vicki McComack of Pottsboro, Texas, Jesse R and wife Amie McComack of Lone Oak, Texas. 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren & four 2nd-great grandchildren. He left quite a legacy. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Vernon Ward Chapel. Visitation from 11:30-12:15 funeral at 12:30. Interment at Vernon Cemetery.

John Joseph Lawless

John Joseph Lawless was born on March 11, 1934 to George Aloyisus and Clara Gertrude (Scherer) Lawless in Ironton, Ohio. He was the youngest of five children, graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Ironton and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. It was the Air Force that brought John to the Ordnance Depot in Tooele, Utah where he met his partner in crime Flora Jane Burger. After serving three years overseas in France and England, John and Flora were married on St Patricks Day March 17, 1956 at St. Marguerite Catholic Church in Tooele, Utah. Four children were born of this marriage. John had a love for Notre Dame Football which he passed on to his grandchildren. He kept an immaculate yard, had a knack for giving nicknames to loved ones and had a strong love for his faith. John started working for Sperry Utah Engineering Company in May 1957 and was employed by Sperry/Unisys/L-3 Communications for 38 years, retiring in 1995 as a Supervisor in the Engineering Development Laboratory. John was proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and two year old daughter Loretta Anne. John is survived by, his wife Flora, children Mark Steven (Danette) of Salt Lake City, Gregory Paul (Jamie) of Tooele and daughter Mary Anne Mills (Harley) of Gettysburg, PA. Nine grandchildren Charles (Jennifer) Lawless, James Lawless, Ryan (Katie) Rydalch, Whitney (Joe) Rakes, John Siniscalchi, Micaela Lawless, Katie & Christine Lawless, Colin Lawless and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Marguerite Catholic Church 15 South 7th Street. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 15th from 6-8p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 16th at 10:00 a.m. Internment at Mount Calvary Cemetery 4th Avenue and T Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
